Additional Leonard Maltin's 2009 Movie Guide (Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide) Information

The New York Times bestselling movie guide from a household name in film criticism

Consulted more frequently than ever in this era of Netflix as the resource, Leonard Maltin’s New York Times bestselling film guide remains the most complete, most reliable, and most authoritative resource for movie reviews. Including nearly 17,000 films, the 2009 edition features more than 300 new entries, a completely updated index of leading actors and directors, and Leonard’s personal favorite films.

What Customers Say About Leonard Maltin's 2009 Movie Guide (Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide):

No way the print can be made smaller. I just wonder how many more movies this fat book can hold, seeing as about one major movie a day is released. I turn to this source constantly for info on movies. The entries are usually pretty much what one needs.

There is even a "BOMB" classification that serves as a dire warning that should be observed. This is a great addition to the household if you watch TV especially cable TV. For the efficient viewing that the book engenders and the few bucks that it costs, an absolute must have. This is not the first time that I have bought this movie guide as they are updated each year. It's worth is in categorising films into various star levels enabling you to choose only the best movies to spend your time on. Three and four star movies are normally (subject to personal opinion) worth watching and things become subject to more risk as the scale moves down.

Always have this book right next to the DVD player and remote. If you need to find info on a movie, this is the book for you. Objective, honest, and funny.

"Cleoptara Jones" also received 2 stars. Folks, did you know that in the film "Mandingo", Susan George was James Mason's daughter. Sorry, Maltin, she was his son's wife. And did you know that "Caddyshack" gets two stars.

Charnez. Just because your Mommy thinks you're funny, that doesn't mean the rest of us do. I think his name is Spencer Green, but it could be a her in which case her name would be Cathleen Anderson or Casey St. He's like your Uncle Harold wearing a lampshade on his head and dancing to "Rudoph The Red-Nosed Reindeer" on Christmas Eve.

Seriously, how reliable can this piece of junk be. Believe me, he's not. Maltin and his editors seem to think so. But "Cleopatra Jones and the Casino Of Gold" got 2 and 1/2 stars.Who can take this moron seriously.Whoever wrote this book (and you can bet it wasn't Leonard Maltin) didn't even watch the movies they're rating. It's a fair encyclopedia (not many foreign films unless they're from France or Italy--Oh, and if they're from France, you can bet 3 stars or more), but as far as ratings go, forget it.Very pretentious, poorly researched, and there's one editor who thinks he's the funniest person on the planet.

"Cleopatra", which got 4 Oscars, received 2 stars from Maltin. Yep.the comedy classic gets the same rating as that other comedy classic, "Scooby-Doo".I swear on my mother's grave that these are the first 3 pages I opened in this horrendously unmanageable "book". And just so you know I'm not lying, I just picked it up again and opened to a random page.

I've yet to find even ONE (out of the first 20 or so I looked up) 2007 films listed in the 2008 guide, or 2008 films in the 2009 guide. However (and I'm really getting tired of this). Might it not be a good idea to cease publication of the guide for a year or so just to "catch up" then reissue it, say, in 20ll, but under the title "2010". Maltin's titles for each successive year his guide comes out imply that films for the year listed on the cover (2008, 2009 etc). will be included.
